On Friday, students and staff participated in STAND FOR SILENCE DAY.  Across Nebraska, students were asked to take a national anti-bullying Pledge, along with releasing 100
BIODEGRADABLE balloons on April 20th. 





2012 Golden Sower

Two students at Watson read all ten books nominated for the 2012 Intermediate Golden Sower award:  Sarah and Angela.

A total of twenty-eight 4th and 5th grade students read at least four of the nominated titles, earning them the eligibility to vote for the winner.  Chosen by students acrss the state, Closed for the Season by Mary Downing Hahn has been declared the winner of the Nebraska 2012 Intermediate Golden Sower Award.  To learn more about the award, and obtain lists of next year's nominees, visit the Golden Sower Award page at http://www.nebraskalibraries.org/goldensower/





Watson Elementary is participating in Box Tops for Education.  Each Box Top collected is worth 10 cents for our school.  Box Tops can be found on hundreds of items including products from General Mills, Betty Crocker, Ziploc, Pillsbury, and Kleenex.  You can also go to the website www.boxtops4education.com for information on bonus Box Tops and way to help your school earn even more.

Please support your child and Watson School by participating in this program.  Together we can make a difference.

Allen’s of Hastings has announced the continuation of the “Education Advantage” program effective September 1, 2011.  Allen’s will rebate 1% of the total amount of cash register receipts that Watson Elementary School collects which are dated September 1, 1011 through March 31, 2012.  Parents, grandparents and neighbors who shop at Allen’s Foodmart and Department Store are encouraged to save their Allen’s receipts and bring them to Watson Elementary School.  Receipts from the entire Allen’s shopping center (excluding The Wine Cellar) can be redeemed by Watson Elementary School.

Watson Elementary School and Hastings Public Schools are not endorsing Allen’s.  Remember, when you shop in Hastings it benefits the community.  If you do shop at Allen’s, please save the cash register receipts for Watson Elementary School.
